200k mile engine warranty transferable?
I'm looking at a 2004 F-550 bucket truck. This truck has been owned by the factory that made the bucket since day 1 as a demo truck. Anyways this truck has 109k on it but it has the 200k/7 year engine warranty on it from Ford. I am wondering if this thing is tranferable to the new owner without doing anything or do I need to do something to make it transfer?
I had the local ford Garage here run a check on the VIN and it has a pretty clean service history the first 3.5 years of its life. Nothing major just a few things here and there nothing related to the motor. Then there was 2 back to back warranty jobs related to the EGR and blowing white smoke. Apparently they replaced the EGR valve and cooler and the manifold and some tube. Seems that that issue has been taken care of as that was 1.5 years ago and nothing else showing in the warranty on that. Then there was a claim this year for rough idle until warmed up. They replaced two injectors and it says the problems have all been corrected 100%.
I asked the service manager what she thought about a truck like this with this service history and she basically said that this is about the same history as all the other trucks with this motor and she said that it appears as though all the TSB's have been completed on the truck and to not worry about it. She also said that she seen that it still had the 200k mile engine warranty but she said that it was only valid for the original owner but from everything else I look at it says that it IS transferable. Anyone know?
