if you were to use a cleanable fuel or oil filter, first it would give ford every excuse in the world to start voiding warranty claims, and secondly you would risk injector failures, motor failures, and a host of other problems. they may be expensive, but when low fuel pressure can eat injectors, and oil flow is used for lubrication and fuel injection.....stick with baldwin, wix, motocraft, or napa or carquests top of the line oil filter........they all test well.....fram, k&n, stp, etc all test very poorly.......Marc

The last time I checked I could purchase a Wix oil filter for $17.99 and the fuel filters were like $75 at a local parts store. I don't think that's too bad compared to our illustrious manufacturer's prices. Don't remember the exact price of the replacement air filter but, it wasn't anywhere close to $130.

i recently bought both fuel filters from ford dealer for $65. this was after complaining about the cost and the fact that i just purchased the truck from them. crazy and wrong how they mark up the prices. another example, for my 98 chevy truck they wanted $650 for the fuel pump. a friend was able to get it for me for $260.

White,

I have just bought a couple of oil filters from www.nationalfleetparts.com at $17.99 each and they have daily specials for the fuel filters as well. As far as a cleanable and reuseable drop-in oil filter, Pure Power offers one www.gopurepower.com. They advertise that it is the only one made of "T6 billet aluminum core with a T-304 stailnless steel filter media." I believe it is priced around $260.00 ...
