6.0 Mod Ideas

I was wanting to see what everyone thought about what mods would be best in order to improve towing, while not sacrificing too much on the reliability side since this is also my daily driver. Right now I am running a triple dog tuner, outlook monitor, 4" turbo-back exhaust. I was thinking about going with an aftermarket turbo and headstuds and then gettings some custom tunes to handle that kind of mod. Should I or shouldn't I do that, whould there be something else that would be just has effective. Any other mods that would improve efficiency and still not sacrifice alot on reliability let me know, I'm still getting use to the aftermarket performance, my last truck was bone stock, so this is the first one I have done this type of aftermarket modification to. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the Site!

I would consider a snow water meth stage 3 kit. About 70 to 80 hp and will help keep your EGTs lower than they are.

:nono: If you and Alan don't stop with the Water/Meth kit already!!! It's hard enough not to just go buy it now, you guys are making it harder for me to resist. I need tires first, then the Snow kit. Your mixing my priorities...LOL After the new shoes it's probably the next thing on my list....I'll be calling.....

The 6.0L runs hot, even unloaded. Running higher horsepower tunes makes it run even hotter. New gaskets and head studs will help keep everything tight, and will be quired regardless of tuning or stock when towing. A new larger turbo will take away from the bottom end as smaller turbos spool up faster.

My suggestion is to stud the head, and bypass the EGR system by welding the egr branch shut on the RH up pipe so you don't flash boil the coolant. Then run a stock tune with heavy loads.
