What do you recommend?

I have to rebuild or replace the turbo on my 03. I do realize aftermarket turbo's are more money but I don't want to spend a ton of money because it is stock and plan on leaving it stock. Is there a aftermarket turbo out there and were would It buy from that is a better design then the original turbo so I don't have to replace it down the road? My truck only has 60,000 mi on it and I have been told I will most likely have problems again with the factory turbo down the road.

That turbo should be under the 100,000 mile warranty. Not sure if there is a time limit though.

2007 F250 Lariat

The turbo is under warranty(Oops! Just realized it's a 2003. The warranty is probably expired in 2008.). Just had the guts on mine replace as well as the larger drain tube from the turbo.

I live in Marquette MI-way up north. I love this site. There aren't much for ford dealers up here, I have learned alot about my 6.0 on this site.

The vanes are sticking-the turbo is barking all the time and the egr senser is bad. When its not barking its a rocket- apparently its creating alot of boost but not until the rpm's get up there. I have had my 03 for a few years but just drove it, never had to work on it untiul now, so I didn't know a hole lot about the 6.0 until my recent problems. After my first post I did alot of reading and talked to some good mechanics on the 6.0 and I am going to do what Pipewelder71 did plus go with the egr delete kit and hope for the best in the future.

At first I was thinking about going with a aftermarket turbo but after I priced them, I'm not willing to pay 3,000 when the druck is only driven a couple months of the years-but if I had the extra money I would.

Am I going in the right diection?

Aaron
