Up-pipe with egr delete, welded egr valve?
I have an 04 F250 which has just had the egr cooler replaced by the dealership. I am looking at my options for bypass/blocking the egr. I have a welded egr valve and am looking at an up-pipe delete kit. Rather than the full egr cooler delete is the up-pipe delete kit and welded egr valve a good alternative, and does it require any mods to coolant lines? My truck only has 65k miles on it and I am trying to avoid further egr related problems. Thnks

If you are keeping the cooler, the safest way is probably to weld both ends of the cooler shut since you have an 04(no scoop in up-pipe) because it eliminates the possibility of filling your motor with coolant. Honestly though if you are keeping it a full delete from one of the vendors here is your best bet.

Thanks for the info. Does a kit like elite diesel's with the up-pipe and block off plate eliminate the egr valve? I ask because I have heard that just unplugging the egr valve can cause "hot flashes" in the egr cooler. If the egr valve is welded shut will leaving it unplugged still cause "hot flashes"? My plan was an up-pipe delete kit with with block off plate to eliminate exhaust gas from entering the cooler, and if the egr valve is not deleted with the kit, I was going to use my welded egr valve unplugged.
