I keep my foot way off the throttle. My rpm never goes over 1700 in the city. It take me 1/4 to hit 40 mph. Usually I can get 19-21 if I really keep it going slow but I average 18

No offense but its powerstroke.org, so I think it's safe to say everyone here likes the F250 and up. To better answer your question are you going to be hauling/towing a lot of weight then maybe go to a 350 all depends (personally a dually is just gorgeous). If your talking more which engine to get it depends is this vehicle for play or work? If its for play get an 05'+ 6.0 but if its a daily driver work vehicle go with the 7.3. You really can't go wrong with anything as long as it has the blue oval on it.
Otherwise back to your first question I average about 15 right now. Empty usually 15 city, about 20 highway. Good luck with any of the decisions you make.
