I got a email this morning about this.....I'll make it short but just hear me out. The big oil companies just laugh as us when everyone tries to get everyone else to "not to buy fuel on a certain day".......first off this will never happen and second it will never work because it would hurt us faster and harder than it would hurt them
.......so here is a new idea, what if we all got together and boycotted a certain oil company..... Chevron, Exxon, Mobile take your pick, but we all have to agree on one and we not buy from that company, but from everyone else, forcing them to lower prices, then we switch over back to the one we boycotted and forcing others to lower their prices........now I maybe talking out of my azz, but I think anything would be worth a shot at this point

.........but do you think an oil company would buy from another.....and more importantly, do you think an oil company would want to help another oil company by buying their oil at an higher price???

It won't make a difference, there is no significant amount of people to do it, and it'll make the others jack up the prices because they can cause we're buying from them... I buy from citgo cause that is the only non-middle-eastern company within 10 miles of me, and moreso for the $0.15 off per gallon I get just by using a giftcard. Citgo or Sunoco that's it for me if I can help it. It'll clear up after this election, and also once we get some of our OWN oil pumping out of the gulf by late next year. |

This whole scenario was tried a few years ago. Didn't do much good. Especially when you consider that Sunoco makes the majority of the diesel in the US, and sells to the major retail stations. Also, that would only hurt the retail side, which is only paid commision for fuel sold (which isn't much commission to begin with.) Last few retail guys I talked to said they make alot more on their food and drinks than they do on the 2-3 cents a gallon they get for fuel. They basically see fuel as something to lure people into their store.
