Hmmm, go across the border into Canada, the equivalent to US gallon of diesel is $5.21.

I'm not really hit by it though, company wise, as I just raise my rates. For the private individual who doesn't see a wage increase, they feel it hard!

i have a buddy who went to see what the dealer woud give him on trade for his 1999 7.3 and they told him they are refusing all SUV's and Diesels as a trade. they wont even consider them anymore. i have also seen the "new" price drop by almost 10K around here with some really good rebates and interest rates to go with it.

If fuel prices remain the same I wonder what will happen to prices as the end of the year gets closer. What will dealers be willing to take for left over 07 or 08's?

Nobody is buying right now due to the high cost in fuel especially big SUV,s and trucks, to the rebates are comming out. We (in Canada) are already hit with Diesel at $5.20 per US gallon for the last year. I personally don't care as I own a company and just write it off my taxes.

Dealers especially don't want anything with a 6.4 fuel guzzler, What a waste of money to buy that rig!

I'll retain my 2003 7.3 forever at 19.4mpg city, 23 mpg highway

This thread was started a few months ago, and look what's happened in just that short time. Three months ago, I could have gotten probably 26k for my truck. Now it's only worth 21-22k. It should be worth more like 30.

I can't tell you how long it took me to save up the money for mine. I wanted a diesel truck since I was a teenager. Now it just makes me sick looking at the 40k pile of metal I can't even afford to drive. I drive an old POS Civic every day now that I picked up for 3 grand.

Prices are coming down a bit now, but who knows if that will continue or if they will stabilize somewhere soon....or if they'll go right back up. I think that the market for SUV's and other guzzling vehicles has for the most part died and will never again be as popular as it was before prices began to skyrocket. I believe we'll still have SUV's, but only the ones that offer great mileage will survive.

As for diesels I think it's going to take a dramatic fall in prices to get prices back up even a tiny bit. This is the time to buy one if you're wanting one, as I have seen some killer deals on trucks that would be unobtainable by many even as recent as a year ago. I've seen a 72k mile Megacab with a Cummins go for 18,300 bucks and the book was just a bit over 30k! The sad thing is that there still some owners out there who are oblivious to the market and for some reason think they have a truck that is an exception and are asking waaaay more than anyone will pay.

August 2007 I got my '07 King Ranch dually for $45,900 - $38,900 after subtracting my trade. Sticker was $53,300. Dealer wanted $55 - $58K for an '08.
