Diesel fuel costs

Diesel fuel is now $.70 per gallon more than 87 octane in the Tampa Bay area. I have been searching for some reason other than just pure greed as to why diesel fuel is much higher than other fuels. I was recently told by someone that diesel fuel takes more raw oil to make than other gas. Is that true? I have a brother-in-law that drives his own 18 wheeler for a living. He said there was some movement to boycott or not purchase any diesel fuel for one week but I do not know where that stands. We need to do something. At least we should all be complaining to our congressmen!!

I don't think boycotting would help from what I gathered on the news that thats what the government wants is people to find other ways of transportation by bus or something. They are doing it for the pollution reasons, are emissions are probably the best in the world and a little overkill they need to be talking to China and places like that. I live in west Texas and we don't have all the secondary transportation like these big cities.
