This is not due to refineries not being built. Diesel fuel is about 54 octane and much cheaper to produce than 87 octane. I am really peed off. Does anyone have any ideas about what we can do? Start writing to your Senators, Governors and Superman!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Diesel is not rated by octane. You can compare gas to diesel using btu's.

It has more btu's than gasoline.

Paid $3.83 in Augusta,Maine March 8,2008.It won't be long before it's over
$4.00.It's time to chip the old girl to get a couple more miles a gallon out of the precious stuff. Maybe change air filter. One thing, Got to get use to as
the high home heating prices people are no longer having oil companies deliver oil to their home because of the high costs and short terms. The lone diesel pumps are extremely busy with customers filling
up 5 gallon cans for their house.Of course, they drive around in new cars alot of the time and spend a great time cleaning the cans after filling them. I suspect this will only get worse as time goes on.Sorry for deviating off subject a bit but this is one area that has not been touched on.
