Isn't red diesel the same just with red dye and no D.O.T. taxes because it's for offroad?

That is NOT "really really really" cheap diesel fuel. It may seem "cheap" after 3+ bucks a gallon, but cheap diese fuel in my opinion is 1.50-1.75. I'd be more than happy to pay 1.75 for a gallon of diesel fuel.

This is true, but it still doesn't explain why diesel has STAYED higher than freaking gasoline for MONTHS!

I paid 2.89 a gal tonight where right across the parking lot, the gas was 2.47. Kind of pisses you off everytime you drive by a gas station. And around here there are still places that have it for 2.99 a gal.

Wow! I always knew we were kind of out in the boonies here in Boise. I just paid $3.55 for diesel and thought I was doing good. I have seen it around town as high as $3.69. Gas is between $2.94 and $2.99.

Red diesel is no different that regular...it is refined the same with dye added simply to control it's use as a non road taxed fuel

Gas for daily driver terdcel : $2.13 per gallon
Deisel for Excursion at same station : $2.96
$.83 more per gallon. I love the gas price, but don't get the difference either. I asked the guy that owns the local station why it was so high. He says "because they can. Because you guys all bought all these diesel pickups and now they are turning the screws."
Seems to me that all the diesel we buy for our trucks isn't a drop in the bucket compared to the demand from the semi's, but what do I know. I'm praying for the day when the truckers say "Enough" and magically get the price lowered

Even before I became a Diesel owner, I wondered why Diesel was always more than regular unleaded fuel. I cant understand it, it doesn't cost more to refine it, it is right along the same level of refinement as heating oil.
