"Premium diesel vs. bio blend

Any benefit to using "premium diesel" instead of a bio blend? Better mileage, more power? A local station has premium diesel, but it is .30 more than the bio blend fuel. Is it worth it?

Premium diesel??? Now I have heard everything. You should talk to the owner and see what makes it premium. I'm guessing they are calling D1 premium or perhaps regular diesel premium vs bio. Of course they could be adding some diesel cleen or something to it. Probably not worth it unless it's LSD then it truly would be premium.

That's what the sign says, "premium diesel" not bio-blend. Guess that is why they charge more. Does D1 burn better than a blend? Any difference in the lubricity (sp?) between the two?

The bio-blend will have better lubrication, but will typically yield lower MPGs. I noticed a 2 MPG drop when I filled up with a 5% bio-blend.

D1 is winder blind and not quite as potent as D2 summer blend. I am just speculating as to what that station might call premium, there is no standard premium diesel as there is premium gas with different octane levels.

I know quite a few people who swear by running a bio-blend every so often to clean out the motor. I'll be making b100 soon so I'll let you know.

Premium diesel has been around a while in Europe, probably not the same stuff that's here. Would be interesting to hear what makes it different.

I used to see "premium diesel" here in Colorado...it has a higher cetane rating.

But, I cannot find it anymore since the gov't mandated LSD to ULSD.
