feed back on f-150 four door/4x4

First of all,, I'm keeping my 97 OBS, I love it for the boat and camper trips... I'm thinking about replacing my 2005 Escape with a 2009 or used 2008 4x4 four door f-150..
Any feed back or comments about the f-150 and motor size. I just need more room for dogs, hunting buddies,decoys and short trips around town.....THX

just a thought...have you ever considered an explorer sport trac to replace the escape??
dont laugh...its built with a frame (not unibody construction),and the bed in the nack looks large enough for dogs and decoys!!! with a 4.0 litre,the performance /fuel economy is decent.
