08 f-250 v8 gasser

hey guys! Im looking at getting an ec/lb 5.4 gasser 6speed manual, How much weight will this truck handle? It will mainly be a daily driver but on occasion i will tow a bobcat, will the 5.4 beable to handle it if i get the 4.10 rearend? The v-10 is not gonna be option nor is the 6.4 just cannot afford those options right now... Any help would be great!!

Thanks Tom

i would not do it... my F 150 has a 5.4L and even on that truck it feels powerless.... and even with the less weight of my truck im lucky if i can get 13mpg... with the weight of a SD your gonna be geting like 9-10mpg

i say skip that thought and get a used 6.0L or 7.3L... your gonna be way more satisfied... plus a good tuned 6.0L will get 15MPG+ city and over 20 highway

just a thought

My duramax work truck is in the shop and they give me a 08 5.4 auto, and that thing is sick. We also have a 6.4 and its petty sick to.

I may be wrong but I think the new 2008s and 2009's only come with the 6.4 or the V10,

Edit: Never mind I'm an I forgot about the work trucks

I use an 07 5.4 at work and that thing is pretty good. Not as good as my truck but better than the other ones we have, gmc 2500 with 350's in them. I currently have a fisher 8' plow with a drop in spreader in it and it does just fine. My truck would outpull it but with the 5r110 tranny it really does a good job. We also use it to haul around a skidloader and it does fine with that also. I would say you should get it if it's mainly gonna be used as a daily driver because your fuel costs would be alot less for what little you would be hauling. But that's just my 2 pennies.
