2004 SD 5.4 questions. Please help ASAP!
Alright guys here goes. My other truck is a 2004 5.4 gasser. I have been trying to figure out what the hell this rattling noise is that I keep hearing on start up. Its last only half a second and doesn't do it at every start. I finally found a youtube video with the exact sound I hear and they say its a the cam chain tensioners that get slack and when you start the truck it takes a brief second for oil pressure to build to tighten the chain back up... Here is the link to the sound, just give me your thoughts and is this something that can be fixed with the motor still in the truck with the cab on and how much?
Also what would cause the 4 speed tranny to shift hard into 4th when you really stomp on the go pedal? Truck shifts fine, no noticeable slip or funny noise and the tranny fluid looks good and doesn't smell funny its just every time I stomp on it hard the shifts so hard into 4th that I'm afraid it might break something. I'm talking hard enough that it slams you back into your seat and the truck lunges forward. With the 5.4 that should not be possible
Could it be a dirty or clogged tranny filter?
