5.4 or Ecoboost?

Looking at a 2010 lariat f150, has 100k with a 5.4. They want 20k for it with all the bells and whistles. What should I get? Will the 5.4 get good mileage, be cheaper to fix?

with that many miles I have to be very weary...and now way pay that much just my oh and ask them if it's had spark plus done to it, they're a common fail point and can get stuck/stip out

You are way better off going with the Ecoboost. They are great engines, and will get better mileage than the 5.4.

Yeah don't let the eco-hype sway you. My wife drives a 13 FX4 eco and its a nice ride, but we both loved her 2011 5.0 FX4 more. Again they are both great, but our preference goes to the 5.0. In all honesty any of the three; 5.0 3.5TT or 5.4 will perform very similarly with the 6spd auto behind it.

I was told the turbo life isn't that great on the eco boost. Not a problem if you are going to mod it
