on my way to buying a 1990 F250

well, my trusty at home commuter decided it didn't want the #3 connecting rod any more and gave it back. been ignoring a rod knock for quite some time and finally the isuzu had enough and gave up the ghost. been looking for a new truck for a couple weeks and found a 1990 2wd F250 with a 460. has almost 99,000 miles on it and they were only asking 3,000. went and took a look at it today and this thing is gorgeous! exterior is decent, lots of scratches and little dings, only two pretty good sized dents but other than than nice straight body. the interior is literally immaculate. other than one small crack on the passenger side on the side of the dash, it looks like the day it came off the show room floor. only kickers, the AC doesn't work (either the compressor clutch is shot or the freyon leaked out) but still blows cold air, and the radio cuts out from time to time. might go and get a once over from a mechanic before i shell out the cash but thinking this might be a great truck! wish it was 4wd but beggars can't be choosers! hopefully my first non-diesel ford will be a good experience.

Uh-uh. Trust me, there is something about 89-92 460 efis, imo.
We have a 89 shop truck/ plow truck with one that I just converted to carb. we went through 5 in tank pumps, three different computers, had the entire engine wiring harness checked by a reputable shop after we could not find anything wrong with it.
It would start, run great for 5 miles, then die. next time it would run for a week, but would die and not restart.
I would seriously look It over, just my two cents. btw, we never got better than 9mpg, however it does have lowish gears.
