Need Ignition Help!!

While driving my car today, it began to cut out and stall and when it was doin this, the tach fell flat to zero while the motor was still turning in gear goin down the road. After stopping for a few mins it would start back up. It did this 3 times on the way home. Has anyone had any experience like this? im thinking its my msd 6al since the tach reads from it unless its the wiring but all advice would be appreciated.

AL box or the coil could be over heating.
