Timing and carb adjustment, low vacuum, 400 Ford
First the specs.
400 Ford .010/.010/.040
stock cam advanced 4* with roller timing chain
Edelbrock dual plane intake with 650 Holley vacuum secondarys electric choke
MSD 6AL with MSD mechanical advance distributor
10 inches vacuum at idle @ 900-1000 RPM, wont run any lower, will randomly jump to 19 inches, was idling on primarys untill i lowered the floats.
Carb likes to backfire every once in a while on acceleration
running 20* initial timing, seems to like this the most
Truck is a 4 speed with larger tires and I dont have the power that I assume I should be getting from a 400, I adjusted my assumption a little for the larger tires, but the truck acts the same when I put the T-case in low.
Any help, advice or point and laugh is greatly appreciated.
