I always thought the 300's were blue. Mine is red. I thought it was just painted but someone told me it was more like a HO deal. he was a pretty trusted, reputable mechanic so I went with it. I haven't researched it otherwise.

Its a flareside stick 2wd im thinking running off the manifold into 2 inch exhaust and maybe fab up some duals for it.

Adding traction bars better intake and bump the timing up and some day turbo It. Hx 35 maybe with a tight housing on It?

Mines 84 sclb 2wd 4spd w/granny. Its a pulling hoss! But not much on speed. I got the exhaust manifold from a 90's to put on it cause it looks a little easier to make duals out of. Beyond puttin an intake on I'm not sure if there's much else. I took all the a/c out, the heat out, there's no power steering. I'm thinking on day maybe doing a bolt on supercharger on the a/c mount.... she's an ol beater so not really worth it..... Plus I have to many mods for the 99 7.3 to spend money on

My dad used to have a set of headers for his 91. Not sure what kind of improvement was seen.

I was told on Ford six and some other sites the Efi manifolds are perfect better then headers till a certain point. Ill probably keep the ac and all the nice stuff and since It a 5 speed should be good to go.

How do these things pull

A guy said It will outpull a 460 from a start both loaded with a bed of steel

How well? Lol sit down and let me explain.

I had a load of oaks that weighed close to 5,000 lbs that I pulled 55 something miles with some really big grades in the mix. I had to drop to third on most of them. All this was done before I rebuilt the head.

It pulled like a dream! It kept right behind dads 96 7.3 pulling about 7500 lbs.

The next week, I pulled the head. Did a water test and every valve was pouring water! Took it down to the shop and had it rebuilt. When I picked it up the guy was like "this truck wasn't running was it?" I was like well.....

The 300 is a hoss. I don't know that it will ever be a performance machine but if you want to tow its hour man. Just DO NOT let it get hot! Get a water temp gauge and don't let it go above 210*.

I really wish I had either the Clarke 5spd or the Mazda 5 in mine. I have the NP405. It's great no doubt for torque but I'm only getting 14-15mpg
