Bad Jasper engine.

My in-laws bought my wife a new crate 351W from Jasper about a year ago as a Christmas or birthday gift for her F250. I was angry on one hand because that totally shot the Cummins swap I was planning. But on the other, it was a lot less work for me because they paid a shop to do the work. Well, ever since it as been one problem after another. I was against getting a new engine and not doing anything with the original 1996 electronics. So, when we started having problems I was chasing electrical issues. The truck always ran rough and for the life of me I could not find the problem. I never thought to look for an internal problem with the engine. Hey, it is a new engine so there is no reason to check the compression, right? The other night I was at a friends shop and asked him to check it out. In five minutes he found two, yes TWO dead cylinders. Oh, and it has been in the shop several times for other install related issues. So now, we see what Jasper is going to do about it. If they make it right and give us a rental while the truck is down, then I am good with them.

The shop that works on my GTO,had to completey go through a jasper engine in another GTO,it had the wrong heads and cam for a GTO.Jasper did reimburse the owner for the right parts and labor.

you say about a year ago

whats the warranty ? dead cylinders could be a valve issue or worse ?

We have been fiighting with them since the engine was new. The shop they sent us to is a second rate place that should not touch other people's vehicles. They made a ton of mistakes that made the engine run rough not to mention the other work they did. The next shop Jasper sent us to did turn out to be a great shop. The corrected the mistakes made by the first shop but we had to pay for them. Now, finally after this new shop and my red headed wife both *****ing at Jasper, they have agreed to send a new engine and cover all but $62 of the labor. So, we will see if they hold true to that and if we get a good engine this time.

good luck! I had a jasper engine in a Fiero and had excellent luck with it but that was several years ago.

I even bought a parts truck with a Powerstroke in it so I can use Ford parts to swap it.

It does way, so I will hold off on the anti Japser feelings I have right now.
