My ranger has no 4x4
My other truck is a 98 Ranger 4.0 5 speed 4x4. I got this truck with the 4x4 not working and with winter coming I'd like to get it working.
Basically, I switch it to 4hi and nothing happens. I jacked the truck up and the front driveshaft never spins, and the hubs never lock in. The light on the dash doesnt come on either. The front hubs look new, and the vacuum switch looks new. Besides that, I don't know where to start.
KOEO I hear nothing happening with the transfer case shift motor. But I don't know if the system is just plain dead or what. Or if the motor will only shift with the engine running? And since the hubs aren't locking is that a separate issue or will they only try to lock if some other condition is met like the TC shift motor locking first.
Fuses are good. Any suggestions on troubleshooting it? Thanks for any help.
