1987 F-150 manual tranny?

My dad's old truck was an '87 F-150 Custom 2wd RCLB with a 5-speed tranny. Man, that was a tough old bird.

He said when he had a new tranny put in, it was Mitsubishi brand. I heard elsewhere that Mazda made the F-150 manual transmissions. Can someone settle this for us?

Just different suppliers, They arent better than either one just different years
