Spark Plug Threads 5.4
2003 5.4 Superduty. I need to rethread cyl #8. Hard? Anyone do it? I havent looked into this yet, just starting.

You should be able to get a helicoil and put it in. It's an insert that will hopefully prevent a blowout. There are a couple of other options available, but that's the most popular one.

It's easy but you need a kit . It will have a long tap and a spacer deal to drill the hole straight .

go ahead and buy the kit. If this is the first one, you'll probably soon be doing more. 15-20 minute job after the first one.
CalVan Tools Ford Spark Plug Insert Installer CAL 38900 Grease up the drill bit and it will hang on to most of the shavings. A boroscope comes in real handy for making sure there's no shavings left on top of the piston. |

I bought a kit at oriellys auto parts. It was complete and pretty easy. I bumped the motor over by the solenoid with the key off to blow any crap out before I put the plug in.
