Xcal Question

I recently accuired a '97 GT with auto. It came with an Xcal II witch I thought was pretty cool. It didn't come with instructions, though. Well, the programming was set make the tranny shift hard as heck, so I set it back to stock for daily driving. Friday night, my cousin's '05 F-150 started running rough and I used the Xcal to pull codes. It worked fine, but when I tried to change the tune in the Stang, it said "wrong vehicle" and error when i tried to read codes. It also says no more changes left or something. Did it VIN-lock on the F150, just reading the codes, or is it a limited use programmer?

That sucks! I can't imagine it vin locked by scanning the truck? Might want to get ahold of SCT and see what they say about it.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll put it back on the F-150 this weekend and hit return to stock just to see if it will unlock. I didn't download a program, but you never know with my luck. Then i'll call up SCT and probably order a USB cable for it.

You should be able to read codes on other Fords with no problem. I have done it many times. I would def hook back up to the 150 and see what it says. The SCTs can be used on 5 vehicles. After that, you have to send them back and pay to get more uses put on it. You may have accidently tried to download something. Who knows.

Go to sctflash.com and download the program called liveload. Once downloaded you can unlock the sct that way if it is. (i think)

I don't have the USB cable to upload it to the Xcal. I'll have to see if I can find someone around here with one. Thanks guys!
