What is everyone's opinion on the 5.4 motors in the f250s 2v or 3v.....What kind of mileage are they getting and how is the power I wont be pulling real heavy loads but dont wanna have a dog either. thanks

Personally, I wouldn't own one. They have no low end grunt to them and fuel mileage sucks. They run decent at a higher RPM but if you're towing, you need it down low. The 2v engines are known for ignition coil issues and like to blow spark plugs out of the heads. For some reason the plugs work loose and then get blown out. Sometimes damages the threads in the cylinder head. I drove an 04 for a month when I had the head gaskets done on my truck and was never so glad to give that truck back.

My Dad has an 01 and I cant stand driving it. Theres not much power, fuel economy sucks 12.8 around town and 13.5 highway and it has had its share of major problems with blowing the spark plugs. I'm with dhanna, I wouldnt own one. Thats just my .

ive got an 05 with the 3v and i dont hate it, its not a diesel truck but it suits me better for what i use it for, i probably tow more and have more use for a truck than half the pre-madonnas that just had to get a diesel for the cool factor around here but i would kill one with the short trips and really nothing i tow will be something my truck wont handle, i opted to get the exact truck i want just with the 5.4 and im very happy, and if you want that low end power invest in a tuner it really makes the 5.4 a differnt animal and steer clear of 2v's they are gutless

Those 5.4's suck. The new 6.2 is better, but still lacking.
