09 Mustang GT Transmission

Howdy Yall,
A buddy of mine is suddenly having a problem with the tranny on his 09 GT. Recently his battery died (light left on all night), he charged it, but it died again so he just replaced it. Coincidentally, now he is having shifting issues on his MANUAL transmission. When in gears 2 and 4, it mikes a real bad whining noise and when in 5th, its very hard to get out of gear...he has to mash the clutch and put a lot of force on the shifter to get it out. Does anyone have any ideas what could be up? He has 24,000 miles and of course Ford is giving him crap about honoring the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty (one dealer is telling him its 3 years from the date of manufacture, which is false). Thanks!

but what I have read about the manuals is that alot of them are having problems


if I was your buddy I would take it some were else or try to contact someone about the issue..

I have a 2008 GT/CS and had the same problem with the transmission. Your problem is the Syncros. Mine went bad in 2nd and 3rd at 22000 miles. That dealership sounds like a bunch of s**theads!! Take it else where if you can. And by the way, let the dealership know that the POWERTRAIN warranty (which includes the transmission) is a 5yr/60,000 mile warranty. The 3yr/36000 mile warranty is for bumper to bumper...

I too have had my trans replaced in my 06 due to sycros being junk. I would definitely bring to different stealership.

Hey yall, just to update yall, the dealership that he bought the car from fixed it under warranty no problem. They replaced I believe the second and fourth sycros as well as third or fifth gear. Don't quite remember but now its all set. Thanks!

My 2007 ford gt mustang I believe has the same tranny as did my 1941 ford 9n tractor. The car is nicd but the tranny and shifting fast is lousey.
