Any feedback on the 2011 Ecoboost?
Looking to get a newer rig for the wife, she's currently driving a '96 Ranger that has seen better days.
Looking for a newer F150, SuperCab SB 4x4. Curious if anyone on the forum has a new F150 with that new EcoBoost V-6. The numbers are impressive, but I'd like to see if anyone has any first hand knowledge. |

Dude those things are bad mofo's for what they are! I've driven 3 different ones, each having a differnt diff ratio. Let me tell you, get the 3.73's! HUGE differce that alone makes. Ton on power, itll get sideways on you on dry pavement. Almost wrecked a Lariat with 3.73's the other day on wet pavement, just kicks that rear end out no problem at all! They pull pretty hard for a V6, left a big impression on me, I'd buy one!
Go to the Ford dealer and test one of em out, make sure it has 3.73's though. I've driven all the new motors except the 6.2L and by far I think the Ecoboost is the best. Wasn't to impressed with the 5.0, even had 3.73's. The 3.7L V6 was a dog. |

I test drove one at the Denver auto show and while I couldn't really get on it too much it seemed to have some good pull. Better than the 5.0 I also drove I would say.

I went to Barett Jackson in PHX a few months ago. Was in one there. It ran really good! Personaly, I would go with the 5.0. Get a good tune on the 5.0 and you will be set!

Well got the time today to go test drive one, an overly packaged Lariate, but it was a 4x4 SCSB that we were looking at. I didn't drive it, the wife did, she did lay into it twice and that thing can move. 3.55 gears and almost no lag in those turbos. We're very pleased with the lastest F-150, still have to find an XLT packaged the way we'd like.

For the kind of money you'll spend on an F150, put in her in a slightly used PSD

I could find a 7.3L or 6.0L to put her in, but with me returning to sea duty in the next year, I really need her in a new rig with a factory warranty. Still looking around though, won't make a purchase until late June. Two PSDs in the driveway wouldn't be a bad idea though. |
