Convert Gas To Diesel?

Hi
I Looked Around Here But Could Not Find Anyone Or Any Post About Pulling Gas Engine Out And Putting In A Diesel Engine, I Know Its Here And Im Being Stupid.

Anyway I Have A 1995 F350 Dully With A 460 V8? Gasoline Engine Utillity Truck That Gets Me A Wappen 6-8 Mile To The Gallon.

I Like The Truck But Cant Afford To Drive It.

So Im Looking For Some Input On A Bolt In Or Sim-i Bolt In Diesel Motor And Auto Trans.

Here Are Some Of My Questions.
1.Does The Rear Axle Gearing Need To Be Changed?
2.What Is A Good Engine Size And Trans To Look For? ( year )
3.Computer? How Difficalt Is This? Or Do I Use The One That Is In The Truck Already?

Im Sure There Are More Question But This Is A Start.

Now Im Really Good At Fabicating Anything And Im Pretty Good At Electrical.

If I Posted This In The Wrong Area Im Sorry.
Thanks

Ok gear ratio can stay the same. Engine you would want a 7.3L with the complete drivetrain. This is what I would do is find a wrecked truck 95-98 powerstroke diesel. Then I would take the engine, trans, transfercase if there, you will need the pcm which is the computer of the truck. You will need the wiring harness and everything else to make the truck run. I would strip the wrecked diesel truck of all good useable parts then convert your truck into a diesel that would be the simpliest and cheapest way to go.

If you have the money and time this would take you about a week to start and complete. If not it could take a couple years.

The thing is would it be feasable for you to do. It may be cheaper and alot less headache to find a good running diesel ready to roll and sell your present truck.

But yes it can be done.

Oh to the ORG.

There is alot of good info and I am sure someone else will have a different opinion on this then me.

I look at everything from an econimical standpoint. That is would it be worth the money and my time to do all that work.

Good luck with it let us know if you go through with this project.

Another thing that you can do is get a Cummins Diesel and swap it in there too, I believe you can even get a Cummins diesel install kit to do this. It maybe cheaper and easier to do that then a Powerstroke.
