Crown Vic?
Okay the 12 mpg wonder, my 97 psd, just isnt cutting it with fuel costs as i drive 35 miles round trip to school and back on weekdays, and to work and church on weekends. right now im biting the bullet, but ive been debating buying a retired police interceptor crown victoria with the 4.6 v8 because their dirt cheap, quickish, and i think would hold up well.
I havent already bought an economy car because my mom drives an 06 ford focus that isnt handling the dirt road very well, and whenever i drive it, i drive it like ive stolen it. Its getting the crap beaten out of it by the road we live on which is dirt that is washboarded all the time and not maintained by the county very well. What im wondering is if the crown vic would be a durable vehicle if i took care of it, could i manage 20 miles a gallon in it, and could i get a decent one for under $2,000? Thanks in advance! |

Yes and yes. The best I got was 26 out of my p71. I had exhaust, had a tune and made an intake for it.
3:55 gears 110 miles. |

Do it! My daily driver is a 1996 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series with the 'Touring Package' which is Lincoln's version of the 'Police Interceptor' package. So mine has the upgraded HP and dual exhaust. I get like 18-20 driving around town and 20-24 on the highway. Bigger car, but the 4.6L will flat get it. Comfortable to drive, and you feel safe. I drive down a gravel road about 1.5 miles everyday and the only trouble I have is keeping tires on it. You'll be happy with a Crown Vic/ Town Car/ Grand Marquis! |

Do you use your truck for towing much? If not you could swap out the 4.10's and get much better mileage out of it. I get around 17 out of my CC around town..... Just a thought though
