The 55
Not a Superduty, but my father and I have been working on this 55 Thunderbird for a while now.
I don't talk about or show this much, but it has undergo a lot of replacement parts the past couple of years and will probably continue to be worked on. Specs: 292ci Ford Y-Block (V8 after the Flathead), Fordomatic 2 speed trans, Dana 44 rear. 6 volt electrical system. It's all stock, except we ditched the original 55/56 style 4 barrel "teapot" carb for a 465CFM Holley 4bbl, and threw on a PerTronix Ignitor electronic ignition. Some other random misc. small details such as I run NGK plugs on just about everything. It's not 100% numbers matching obviously, the car was also originally yellow. I know Im missing a bunch of other stuff, but I figure you guys can appreciate it. Hopefully it'll be on the road by end of this Summer. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks guys. Don't see many 55-57 Birds around much anymore. She does act like a PITA sometime. There's really only one issue that is bothersome, it's a leak on the trans somewhere, not a constant leak but there's always a small amount of fluid on the floor the next day or so after we've had it running or moving it out the garage, around the yard. Reverse takes a while to get, it doesn't feel like it's slipping, but once it finally engages reverse it'll pretty much stay until it cools down and the small amount fluid runs out again. A seal is obviously leaking somewhere, I have a screen replacement inside the pan, and will do a complete fluid change, it takes a different type of trans fluid, type AF. What it really needs is to be driven more, if the fluid change or the screen doesn't help it we'll probably tow it to a trans shop to see what's up.
