anti-freeze issues

My cousin has an older full-size bronco, with the 302, 4x4, eddie-bauer edt. And he is having some problems with it spewing antifreeze out 2 spots. One is off the back of the engine near wwhere the trans is. The other is very close to the water pump, the water pump has been replaced less than 5k mi. He has no idea, and took it to a local gas station (closest place to limp to) and he said it was the water pump, but it doesn't look that way. The leak is very bad and very fast, as fast as you pour water in, it drains out. Someone told him to look at the freeze plugs??? anyone hear of those before, I am more a diesel person, so I don't know if its a gas only thing. Hoping someone on here may have an idea.
Thanks

sounds like it could be freeze plugs to me. Seems like a 302 has 2 on the back. And if the water pump was one of those cheap ones with a lifetime warranty. Their lifetime sometimes isn't very long. I changed 2 out on 1 vehicle in one night before i got a good one.

Not hard to replace unless you have to drop the tranny. Pop the old one out then pop the new one in. I used to put i thin coat of silicone around the new one before putting in.
