Thinking about buying Excursion
Well my wife found a 2000 Ex. limited with 101K on the clock for about $9900 bucks. cloth seats, 2wd, V10. I really wanted the PSD, however the price is pretty eyecatching. what do you guys think? anything i should look out for on the v10? i know the 7.3 kicks the v10 @$$ but my wife would rather have a gasser. let me know...Rod

Boy with the price of gas I don't think your going to like the mileage of the v-10. My dad had an 01 F-250 for a year and traded it in on an 02 7.3 because of the mileage. He was getting 12-14 on the highway and pulling his 16ft trailer with just a harley in it he was lucky to get 9 and that 250 is lighter then the excursion.

Well we really need something large to fit kids, dogs, and all the BS that goes with them. we have a tahoe right now and it actually gets around 18-20 mpg on hiway, but we are doing a lot of traveling and the extra room would be nice. I also want my wife to be able to tow a small trailer if the need arises during our travels. i agree about the mpg, but my wife for some reason will not do diesel (almost grounds for divorce). i am wondering about any known technical issues or anyones experience while owning one (good or bad). Thanks for your thoughts and advice...Rod

The V10 would be king for towing if diesel's weren't around, but they are LOL SOoooooo V10 @ 100k is getting up there in age. I'll probably be ridiculed by several V10 owners but I'll cut the cake this way... that high reving, odd # of cylinder gas hog will not outlast a diesel, period. Use these points to your advantage... -Diesel is roughly 30% cleaner then gas. (better for the environment). -Diesel gets 20-50% better fuel mileage. -Diesel has a higher re-sale value. -Diesels are heavier and the frame/body is usually built around that so it's safer for the family. If she doesn't like the "NOISE" of a diesel then all you have to do is make sure you have the one w/ the hushpanels and do the doormods and it'll be as quiet around town as a V10 inside and HALF as loud as a v10 at 2,000 rpm's. |

alright guys, i think you have armed me with the ammo needed for this task...lol The main reason she doesnt like diesel is simply the smell...if she gets any on her at the pump it ruins her day. she loves to drive my f350, the sound of the turbo after the diy intake and ever even throwing the gears with the 6spd. but the key word there is my truck. She wants what she wants, she spends alot of time behind the wheel, and thats it. i think i actually have talked her out of it though...i told her no X w/o 7.3 Now i am afraid she is going to look at suburbans...well ill keep tryin....Rod
