Should I do it?V10

I sold my 7.3 2wd powerstroke cause I needed 4wd(got stuck 3 times). I only tow 3k pounds on the weekends. I am now towing with my wifes suburban but I miss having the bed for all the storage room and quite frankly that 5.3 sucks for towing as it wants to drop to 2nd on every little hill. I came across a 1999 V10 cc F250 lariat 4wd with 172k for 6k. Its a one owner and in great shape. It also has the banks full exhaust? Should I hold out and save up for another powerstroke(goona be awhile) or just go for the V10.

thanks

Save for the PSD. V10 can be quite thirsty and they just dont sound right!

well fuel mileage doesnt mean alot as the truck will probably only see 6k miles a year at best. It won't be a daily driver. Will the V10 get 10mpg pulling 3k pounds?

10 maybe if take it easy, there 4x4 psd's out there for 6-7k I only paid 8k for mine with 135k on it, so if you look hard enough you could probly find an OBS diesel for 6k.

The only thing I see wrong with that besides the horrible mileage is that 170K is really high mileage for a V10. I'm surprised that the spark plugs haven't blown out yet. V10's have a nasty habit of sending spark plugs through your fenders.

Personally, I would look around for a PSD.

I'd also look for another diesel, but if that's not a possibility I'd rather be in a 5.4L instead of the V10 for what kind of driving you do...

v10s are the worst mileage truck i ever own. I had an 04 CC short bed sport. great looking truck but i was 19 driving it around like it was a honda civic. it got no more then 10 mpg around town. and i drove it to florida and it got about 13 on the highway using cruise control most of the time.

I had it for about 9 months before trading it in for my 03 6.0.
