Fuel filter removal tool?

Hey guys,

We do a tremendous number of PMs on Powerstrokes and 5.4/4.6 gassers. What's the trick to getting the fuel filters off of newer V8 E-series (and others) with the g0dd@mn slide-on filters with metal clips?

We've got Ampro fuel line separators...not worth a beepbeepbeepbeep. Tried a steel separator...not worth a beepbeepbeepbeep. It's almost like you need a tool that goes between the filter body and the hose to spread them apart.

Crown Vic's are a cinch...just snap out the plastic clips, and the lines slide right off the filter. Why couldn't they have just used this system on the E/F series ?!?!

Thanks in advance,

Superwrech

Usually if you push in on the fuel line and then install the tool the line will pull right off. I use the plastic removal tool. Seems to work the best

here is my trick......

unclip the little u shaped retainers and slide them out of the way
snap the removal tool onto the hard line of the filter and push it into the connector
grip the rubber line with the palm of your hand and use 2 fingers from the same hand to hold the tool inside the connector and pull apart.

oh yeah CLOSE YOUR MOUTH unleaded don't taste very good

Thanks for the info, guys. For us, the metal line removers seem to work well. Lots of former rust-belt vans and trucks down here with salt damage.
