1990 chevy 1500 with 5.7

I know its not a ford, but my friends 1990 chevy's ac is acting up, we retrofitted it, and then filled it with R-134A and before that the ac pulley's center triangle wasnt rotating at all, now its only rotating periodically, does anyone know whats going on? Any help would be great. Thanks.

It's supposed to only rotate periodically. It will kick on and off.
