u can prob do both..just be prepared to be able to fix it and have parts readily available.def go with a decent lift to clear bigger tires and that isnt unsafe for road driving either..superlift makes some nice ones.u can also cut up dem fenders to give u clearence.id go with the 73-79 f250.easy to work on and good on a budget.find parts for them everywhere

I know a guy that ran 39.5's on a stock '77 f-250. He just cut the fenders a little. It had a stock 351 M with a good cam and a 4spd. It was one of the baddest mud trucks I've seen. The holy grail of mudders is a late '70's f-350. They are unstopable. go with the 351 M, parts are cheaper than a 460 and they are easier to find. They are also very tough engines with great low end power from the factory. Just throw on a performer 4 BBL intake and Holley 650 or 750 if you add a good cam.
Running gear on any of the '70's trucks are very reliable. Lifts are cheaper and you get a solid front axle unlike '80's and '90's model trucks. With the f-150 you get a Dana 44 front and 9" rear, both easily repaired and cheap. F-250's have Dana 44 fronts and Dana 60 rears witch are alot tougher, but more expensive to build. F-350's had Dana 60 front and rears. If you want a mudder, I suggest a long bed truck. |
