Alaskan fishing jobs...
Been really digging into this lately for some reason, and call me crazy but I'd KILL to get a chance at hitting the bearing sea one winter and going out for a few months on a 145ft crabbing boat. Eventhough it's the most dangerous job in the world and every year someone gets lost at sea, you work atleast 20hrs a day/somtimes up to 35-40hrs straight, but I want to do it, bad, to where it's all I've been talking about lately and my wife is at the "well damn, just go do it and shut up" point.. lol
I've been reading all over the internet on how to go about getting a job like this, and I just can't find anything other than sites that want you to pay a $299 membership fee to get a book that tells you how. Personally I think it's BS, and I was pretty much wondering if anyone on here has done it, or has a friend, family member, friend of a friend, etc that's done it and can give me some information on where to start. if so, post up and let me know! |

That's hands down my favorite show on tv, it was on for 2 days straight for the memorial day marathon lol. As much hell as those guys go through, I'd do it in a split second. Put in a LOA at work here, and head to alaska.. |

I've got alot to lose if I decided to pack up and head to alaska one day, as much as I would love to be in a position where I could afford to take a 5 month leave of absense at work, and head to alaska to see what I could do. I'm not sure what's making me want to do it so much, just looks like through all the hell they go through I'd have the time of my life, and make AWESOME money doing so. |

Just send in your resume and wait for a call and be ready at a moments notice! I have friends back home that have gone crab fishing up in Alaska and met all the crew from Deadliest Catch before there was even a show. Its a demanding job so they're usually hiring greenhorns quite often, but don't think you'll be fishing on the Northwestern, Cornelia Marie or any of the big boats right off the bat. |
