Great Day on the River
I just got back from the river. I live in Casper, some of the best trout water in the world, and finally landed the big one.
Went out Wednesday to the same hole and hooked a biggun twice but he broke my tippit both times (fly fishing by the way). So today I tried the exact same spot and wouldn't ya know it he broke the tippit again. I retied with 4X tippit and put a BWO Emerger on, cast out and he hit hard. I set my hook and started fighting. After a 10 minute fight I finally got him in. When I netted him, it was an 18 - 20" rainbow. Now I'm really kicking myself for not putting my camera in my vest. I tried hooking him again, but sadly, the wind picked up and I couldn't get line out far enough. But all in all, it was a great day on the Platte. Can't wait to go out again, but this time I'll put my camera in my vest and get pictures. |
