just bought a little 14 foot jon boat it's a sea king with a 5 hp motor and 36lb thrust trolling motor then a humminbird fish finder and trailer paid 500 for it cant beat that for a local 700 acre lake

IMHO you can never have too much trolling motor. I would have nothing less than 36V. That was the first thing I changed on this boat. I run my two trolling batteries and my cranking batteries. I still only have 3 batteries in my boat and have run this setup for over 10 years with no problems Hell...its like having a POWERSTROKE on your bow!
