Man, I must be crazy then! I paid 300.00 for my cobia, with a trailer. Replaced 2 trailer tires, bought life jackets, a fire extinguisher, a mic for the VHF, changed the I/O oil, and the engine oil, replaced the bilge pump, and threw it in the water. Already had new bellows and a new u-joint in the drive. Total spent was under 600.00 and it's the best money I have spent. Does make me want a bigger boat, and for 5k you certainly do get alot of boat. But that's next year. Being on lake ontario anything under a 21 footer can be dicey unles it's late and smooth as glass. Lukily I have the 5 finger lakes all within 2 hours drive. |

Oh a link to a picture of my current boat. It's a 31 years old 25 foot Trojan and I have owned it for 15-16 Years. Thru the years I have had to come up with practical fixes for it on my own. Paying for the repairs would have been astronomical . Wish I could outfit it with a small diesel just strong enough to keep it on plane. http://www.steven.hardy.net/pics/myboat.jpg |

There's not a whole lot of large water locally... you gotta drive some distance for that! Besides this thing is slightly wider then my old boat and half a foot longer! My step dad sold the other boat with a seized motor for 700 bucks LOL. The guy came home, found out his wife took 103 grand out of his account and took off. He sold the boat for a dollar, signed the bill of sale, and cut her a check for 50 cents :-) hahahaha

Nice boat. I see alot of fun in your future with minmum expenses. You will be able to easily do the North East River, the Sassafrass River,The Elk River ,the bohemia river, and the suquehana river with that...just be careful doing the open bay area. When i return from my trip, youlle have to let me check it out.

This thing really is nice! It's got 5 less hp then my last boat, but it's lighter so it's at least as fast.
I put in right by my house and drove the boat down past turkey point and back and only used about 2 or 3 gallons. Biggest problem is that it's stick steer and it's a 30hp and after 10-15 minutes it's hell on your arms LOL. Going to get something setup for the steering later this winter. |
