First Build

First attempt at gun building, I'm pretty proud on how she turned out. It's all Yankee Hill Machine parts with exception of the stock. A couple more pieces and off to the range.

Looks good. Did you do all the trigger, barrel, gas block... work yourself? All of it seems pretty straight forward. I'm building my first (will make #3 overall) out of Sun Devil receivers but haven't gotten past what parts I'm going to use. Let us know how it shoots.

I really like the flip up front sight.

Mags are crazy high, they were arond 15 not too long ago. Can't find them for less than 25. now.

I did not complete the upper I got a smoking deal on it the way you see it. Like I said it's all Yankee Hill and in my limited experience these are some quality parts.

I should have the bolt and charging handle tomorrow.

I'll probably go with a detachable folding rear iron sight for now, spent too much already for an ACOG or anything of the like.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yankee Hill makes some good stuff.

The flip up rear to match would be cool. I'm wanting an AimPoint with flip up backup sights for my shorty. I like the ACOG but the 12 year half life on tritium and not knowing the cost to renew it has me turned off.

All parts & ammo are crazy high. I can't find primers right now.

Yeah parts are crazy, I think I got what is considered a good deal on the lower 175., but the parts kit, 80. freaking dollars, for what a few springs and a little trigger and hammer.

It wasn't that long ago you could have all the lowers you wanted for 75. bucks a piece.

Don't shoot me for this, but it is a AR-15 right?

I want to build one too, but was just starting to look at prices. How much did the whole thing set you back Mike? What caliber did you go with, 223, 308?

I'm in love with the lever action's though, I think I will have to buy me a lever action 44 magnum, before the AR. The caliber that one the west, and killed more people and animals than any other and get me a nice wheel gun to match it. I'm into the cowboy sh!t, even though I live and look like a city slicker, I'd love to have been born in 1881, rather than 1981 . I've already got a lever action Marlin 30-30, that I really like. I watched Open Range the other day, and got all excited.
