AR-15 vs AK-47

Hey all,
What are y'alls opinions about these to weapons? I have fired both of them, a lot more of the AR-15 (M-16) than the AK. I truly love the feel of the AK and how tough it is, but there is a certain fondness for the AR also.
What is the cost of ammo? Does one run higher than the other?
I know that the AR has a higher purchase price than the AK.
Anything else to consider before purchasing one of them?
I have no particular time frame on buying one.
Craig

You can get an AK or an SKS pretty cheap most of the time but the 7.62 ammo is a bit more than the .223 in the AR. Are you just looking for something that looks cool? I think an AK-47 with a custom stock would look really sweat. But neither of these would be my choice based on performance.

Things may have changed but I used to buy surplus ammo for my AK and it was cheaper than .30 Carbine ammo.
20 or 30 bucks a hundred, course thats a few years back.

Send a message via AIM to cchase
IMO, i would buy the AR. i have an AR-15 M4, my brother has an SKS AK47 both .223 and when we take these things out playing, they take alot of abuse. dirt, water, getting tossed around in the truck, and my ar has never jammed and his ak does. we use the better amo too. I am a fan of the AR no matter what. plus it has less recoil, better aim.

heres alittle idea for ya if you like AR's but want a 7.62 get a AR10...I have a M4 and a AR10 I think I may build a upper with a 12" barrel for my AAR10 so I can have best of both worlds...short for chasing cyotes and slap the full legneth on for long distance....

or get a FAL and be done with it... the cadillac of black rifles
-16" is the shortest barrel you can put on a rifle receiver and be legal. -and you can't put a stock on a receiver registered as a pistol..
