First Purchase!
Hey guys! Looking to buy my first firearm and I am looking for some advice and am open for suggestions. I am really looking for something that is affordable and fun/easy to shoot. I have experience around firearms since i was a little kid, but my knowledge is nowhere close to what I would like it to be, so it will be a learning process as far as maintenance and the mechanics of it (i am a mechanical engineering student about to graduate, I love taking stuff apart
Any suggestions!? Things to read up on? I do like the ruger 1022 Takedown, stainless and breaks down, cheap ammo.... but the allure of a handgun like a 1911 is still there.. |

Buy a Ruger 10/22 and customize the piss out of it.
And then step up to an AR15 and customize that. But, what kind of shooting do you like to do? |

an AR15 is definitely something that I can see getting into down the road. As of now I just plain can't afford it. To customize a 10/22, does it mater which particular one I go for? I will say that my all time favorite gun to shoot was the lever action winchester 30-30 my old man has. That gun is a blast, but its not cheap to shoot... Im just gonna be doing target shooting out in the woods. |

Although I have many large caliber rifles, I do still enjoy the hell out of plinking with my customized Ruger 10/22 (Archangel Kit) and micro red dot aim point. My son loves going to the local gravel pit with me, setting up steel spinning targets, and burning through a brick of 22 rounds. Ya, it's really just a toy, but it's cheap and sure is fun!

I think i have settled on getting a Glock 19 Gen 4. From what i have read and heard, its simple to break down and its reliable. Most of all its pretty affordable and 9mm rounds aren't too pricey. I can also keep the sucker in a lock box in my apartment and no one has to know its even there ![]() Any opinions on this gun? Gun show is in town this weekend, so I am going to check it out and see! |

or a Ruger SR-22.....both felt great to hold. The SR-22 felt better, but i wasn't able to mess with the grip backs (or whatever you call them) on the gen4 glock.
Couldn't shoot anything, but I like them both! What do you guys think? |
