Started 1st AR-15
Well I was walking around the gun show today and had some money just burning a hole in my pocked so I decided to go ahead and do something I have always wanted to. So I found a good Rock River Arms lower receiver and grabbed a lower receiver parts pack, came home and put it together. Never realized how simple these things are to assemble. I could have just bought one but I wanted to know every single part in it intemitly and this is the only way to do that.
Well here is the assembled lower minus butt stock as I did not pick one out at the show. ![]() ![]()

I thought there were some AR buffs on here.

dont get the 5.56 upper. go with 7.62
here is an example Galati International: 7.62x39 A3 Upper Receiver Complete with M4 Feed Ramps - Yankee Hill |

I may build one one day but I am starting with the basics.

IF the 7.62 upper is a 7.62x39 upper then the parts will fit without any problems. If, on the other hand, the upper is a 7.62x51 upper (308 Winchester/7.62Nato) then you need an AR10 lower.

What do you have against the 5.56?

small ineffective round, takes to many rounds to kill, lack of power, range. etc...

nice...any plans yet. A2 or A3 upper, barrel length and weight, free floating, etc? I like using budsgunshop , impactguns, and brownells. Probably others cause I'm sure there's guys here more into them than myself as I've yet to build one myself. Want to build one but have a couple different uppers for it, one Carbine and one Target/Varminter with a heavy 20-24" free floated barrel....cousin in-law is retired military and serves in the reserves, builds and has a nice collection of them and 1911's. Another cousin in the A.F Reserve has an FFL that allows him to build and sell guns, he makes/customizes AR's and AK's, etc...then my buddy (OIF vet) just ordered one of those Ruger SR556

Maybe your problem is not the round, maybe its your shooting. Dont come on here and bash me for building an AR-15 because its not what you like. If you have a problem with my choice in fire arms keep it to yourself. Quote:
