Looking for a new scatter gun

I have been getting an itch for a new shotgun lately. Im curious what some of yall would recommend.

It will be used for mainly hunting. (pheasant, quail, duck, maybe a turkey every now and again)

My only requirements are: 12ga, at least a 3in
Im not concerned with a choke, because I will probably end up chopping 4-5in off the barrel anyways, and having the barrel tapped and threaded.
I tend to shoot better with a shorter gun

I love my winchester SX3. it comes in many versions too

I use my dad's Mossberg 500 and it's one of the nicest shotguns I've ever used.
A Remington model 870 is a fine gun too.

If you could have an opportunity to try both, then you'd be able to choose which one you like better.

I have shot a couple of my dads old 870's and I'm not a huge fan. I havent shot a mossberg though

I've never been able to pump out 4 rounds faster than with mine.

I shot a mossberg yesterday, I really didnt care for it.
My S&W is way smoother than the mossberg

Looks like the purpose of the gun has changed though
I just found they are starting up a competitive shot gun team at my school

anybody shoot competitively???
