Good wedding gift

I'm getting my best friend a pistol for his wedding, but I'm not sure what to buy him. He said he wants .40 or .45, and I'm only gonna be able to spend about $500. What do you guys think I should buy?

I can tell you one not to buy a S&W SW40Ve sigma, they're only $369 but I have one and wouldn't recommend it, you might be able to find a Glock for around that price, Springfield XDm's are great guns but I think they are in the $600 range

The Taurus 1911 is a great pistol, picked one up recently for $523. Very well made, lots of features for the money.

I totally have that gun! I like everything about it except the trigger pull is more than I would like, so it's no fun at the range when I put more than 10 or 15 rounds through it.

Did I forget to mention that there are ZERO upgrades and ZERO molded holsters for it? (S$W40VE "Sigma")

I checked out the Taurus 1911, it's pretty sweet!

So a Tauras 1911 is a good buy huh? I'll look into it. I have been trying to save for a Colt but need something before the price goes any further.

I have a few 45's.....Dollar for Dollar, it's probably my personal favorite out of the box.

I have better, but they were made, not bought.

I have a taurus PT945 (.45 ACP) i dont have any problem with the gun other than you cant find assesories or holsters so i might sell it, a 1911 should have all sorts of assesories. I love the .45 caliber but keep this in mind, ammo is over 2x as expensive and 2x harder to find, for that reason i would get a .40. I have 2 Glock .40 and i would recomend them to anyone, they are great guns.
