Turnover ball flag pole
With college football season beginning this weekend, it is time to dust off the flags for gameday. Last year I would rock dual PVC flag poles out of the tie down holes by the tailgate. This year I want to go bigger and was thinking of buying a second ball for my B&W gooseneck hitch, cutting the ball off, and welding maybe a 6' water pipe to it, thus having a large removable flagpole in the middle of my bed. My question is has anyone done this? Is it even possible? And would it be strong enough to drive around town (30-40 mph) with?

yes it's possible, but IMO not worth it. a .120 wall tube 6-8' long dropped in the hole and pinned with the existing cross pin that holds the ball will be sufficient and involves no more than 10 minutes of fab if you have a drill and some sort of saw.
