Homemade enclosed trailer?
I'm in the process of enclosing my 16x6 utility trailer. Have some 11/2" 3/16" angle and I thougth about enclosing the thing with corrugated metal,(roofing sheetmetal) I will be driving quite a distance about three to four times in a 2 year period.I'm thinking once i'm done will use the thing for camping and hauling toys. Has anyone done anything like that? I have google this topic and found some interesting ideas, just wanted to know from you guys if there is a better way then wood. Thank you all in advance.

I know a guy on a survival forum that built a camper/tool hauler out of a utility trailer. I will look for it tomorrow and see if I can post a link.

i built a wood enclosure on my tilt trailer..i wanted to make it removable. well i built it on the trailer and used it for my daytona trip, after the trip the damn thing was so heavy and hard to get off that it turned into a shed. it was a good idea but not so piratical for me..
good luck |

ya I hear you. That was one of the things I thougth about weigth, plywood it's a bit heavy and not very cheap i found corrugated metal 2'x10x28gauge
for $18dlls a piece most of the steel and welding rods i have. still dont think it will be much lighter then the wood builtone, but i think the looks will improve by far. Then if the wife kicks me out I'll have a place to live

Building a Trailer
You can build a nice trailer using 1" square thin wall tubing. Red Neck trailer supply has most of the roof bows and roof corners as well as door posts.Just Google Red Neck Trailer supply.
Here is one I built. |
