For your truck? Or for your shop?

I'm guessing truck since you said air horns.

i have the viair 450C and i love it. Its a 100 percent duty cycle compressor so it can run a really long time without needing a break. I have it and a 5 gallon tank and if i had to do it again, id get a larger tank for sure.

I'm working on a 4.5hp 12dc Warn winch motor coupled to a York 210 compressor. 12.8CFM @120psi, more than enough for my horns and air demands!! I had the York engine mounted in my old Dodge, but there is no clearance under the hood on the 7.3's. I'll post picks when I get it done.

You can get by with a crappy compressor if you have a big holding tank for air. Or one that can withstand high psi (most are rated for 200 psi). That being said, make sure you get a 100% duty cycle compressor. Otherwise, the compressor will shut itself off in the middle of a job when it gets too hot. I'm running a ViAir 480C with a 5 gallon tank and am very happy with it.
